10 Things to Try When You’re Feeling Down

1. Don’t take yourself too seriously. Learn to laugh at your mistakes.

2. Life is too short to waste it on resentments, bitterness or grudges you’re holding against others.

3. You don’t have to win every argument and fight. Sometimes it’s OK to just agree to disagree.

4. Make peace with your past – then let it go, and move on.

5. Choose to go after what brings you happiness.

6. Don’t compare yourself to others.

7. It doesn’t really matter what others think about you. Just live your own life and be true to who you are.

8. Life isn’t always fair – but sometimes good things happen, too.

9. Ignore difficult feelings, and keep taking the next step.

10. Ask for what you want.

11. Don’t suffer in silence. Reach out for support.

12. Everything changes.

13. Be willing to experiment and try something new.

14. The most important thing is to love and be loved.

15. Believe that the best is yet to come.

1. Remember, feelings of panic are just exaggerations of normal bodily stress reactions.

2. Sensations are neither harmful nor dangerous – just unpleasant. Nothing worse will happen.

3. Stop adding to the panic with frightening thoughts of where panic will lead.

4. Stay in the present. Be aware of what is happening to you rather than concern yourself with how much worse it might get.

5. Wait and give the fear time to pass.

6. Notice that when you stop adding to panic with frightening thoughts, the fear begins to fade.

7. Focus on coping with facing the fear rather than trying to avoid it or escape from it.

8. Look around you. Plan what you will do next as the panic subsides.

9. Think about the progress made so far, despite all the difficulties.

10. When you are ready to go on, do so in an easy, relaxed manner. There is no hurry.

Each time you cope with panic, you reduce your fear!

We’re afraid others will see our flaws, weaknesses and insecurities. We’re afraid if others really knew us, they would reject us. We feel like fakes and frauds in a world that seems to have it all together.

Stop pressing rewind on things that should be deleted from your life.

I assure you, I’m not put together at all. Nor am I broken. I am recovering – finding the beautiful in the ugly and stitching it into my life.

If I could go back to the day we met, I would turn around and walk away.

There are people who take the heart out of you, and there are people who put it back.

1. Try saying “yes” instead on “no”.

2. Don’t allow your feelings to dictate your behaviour.

3. Travel to somewhere you haven’t been before.

4. Spend time with people who are different from you.

5. Try a new food, or learn or new skills.

6. Live in the present, not the future or the past.

7. Do something different – that scares you – every day.

It’s better to be your genuine self, and have fewer of the right kinds of people in your life, than it is to surround yourself with those who only accept you as long as you conform to their idea of who you should be.
